Job Summary
The Manager, Business Analytics is a pivotal, data-focused role responsible for leveraging advanced data analysis and business intelligence to optimize performance and inform strategic decision-making across the enterprise. This role touches the overall business providing embedded analytical support for the Finance, Sales & Marketing, and Operations departments.
The Manager, Business Analytics will support the development of forecasting and predictive models for revenues and expenses, manage key performance dashboards, and translate complex datasets into actionable insights. This position requires a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between data and practical hotel operations, ensuring data integrity, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across all facets of the business.
Expected Contributions
- Business Performance Analysis & Insights: Lead the analysis of complex business data to uncover trends, identify performance drivers, and deliver actionable insights that influence company-wide strategic decisions.
- Financial & Operational Reporting: Collaborate with the finance department to streamline budget preparation, variance analysis, and operational reporting, ensuring alignment between data insights and financial performance.
- Forecasting and budgeting: Support revenue forecasts and contribute to the annual budget and business plans.
- Data Strategy & Business Intelligence (BI): Manage the utilization of business intelligence tools and data platforms, ensuring data integrity, developing key performance dashboards, and empowering departments with self-service analytics capabilities.
- Cross-Functional Strategic Support: Act as an embedded analytical partner to the Strategy, Finance, Commercial, and Operations teams, utilizing data-driven approaches to optimize business decisions.
- Preparation of Reports & Presentations: Prepare recurring reports and presentations for the leadership and Executive team that provide valuable insights on the business in a succinct summarized form.
- Data Analysis: Present analytical insights, strategic recommendations, and craft commentary for reports to senior management and other stakeholders, influencing decision-making and driving business growth.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis & Special Projects: Scope and execute deep-dive analytical projects addressing specific business challenges or opportunities as requested by executive leadership such as labor reporting and scheduling.
Candidate Profile
Education, Certification, or Licenses
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data and Information Systems, or a related field required, or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Revenue Analyst, Data Analyst, Financial Analyst or similar role in a data-driven environment.
Competencies & Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and PMS/RMS tools.
- Previous experience hospitality analytics or hotel operations analytics preferred including knowledge of distribution channels, OTA platforms, and market segmentation.
- Experience and solid understanding of data modeling principles and best practices.
- Experience with reporting and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, Looker) and UX fundamentals.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and comprehension skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex analytical topics to a wide audience who may or may not be familiar with the subject matter.
- Strong collaboration skills to seek out and bring together different points of view and perspectives from different disciplines.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and to appropriately prioritize responsibilities.
- Have initiative and a thirst for learning new things and finding opportunities for improvement.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
