Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join the team at the AAH Tempe Market Station.

This role will be responsible for supporting the operations team as well as support for the corporate finance team.

The Staff Accountant position will be responsible for maintaining the accounting responsibilities on property to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Produce and distribute daily revenue reports and daily cash reconciliation, including credit card balancing and comp journal entry.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy.
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash handling employees.
  • Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all cash variances.
  • Prepare, maintain, and administer all cashier banks and contracts.
  • Accounts Payable duties-input invoices, set up new vendors and review vendor statements.
  • Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until payment in full is received or resolved. Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash handling employees.
  • Accounts Receivable duties-process and maintain group deposits, send final billing to groups after departure.
  • Lead daily and weekly AR meetings.
  • Attend weekly BEO meetings.
  • Complete banquet gratuity spreadsheet, post payment for all AR accounts.
  • Reconciliations for Marriott reimbursement rewards, gift cards and others as needed.
  • Handle credit card chargebacks and provide guest folios with receipts upon request.
  • Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information.
  • Complete period-end closing procedures and reports as specified.
  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements according to company procedures.

Specific Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 2 years of practical financial experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience in multiple systems and interfaces with the working knowledge of property management systems and point of sale systems.
  • Experience with Oracle (Opera and Peoplesoft) a plus.
  • Excel proficiency required.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented with excellent follow-up.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both internally and externally
